Angelina Jolie is currently traveling the world for political reasons, but not related to the US administration. As you may know, Donald Trump delivered his State Of The Union address last night amid the reports that Stormy Daniels now denies their alleged affair.
However, perhaps, it’s better off for Jolie to focus her efforts internationally. The pettiness of the reports surrounding US politics right now is a good reason to stay away.
According to a report from E! News, Jolie visited a Syrian refugee camp along with her daughters, Shiloh and Zahara; she went to meet France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron to talk about the Syrian war and spoke with NATO at the headquarters in Brussels on Wednesday.
Jolie is the co-founder of Preventing Sexual Violence In Conflict Initiative, as well as the UNHCR Special Envoy. The actress went to the headquarters of NATO in Brussels today to talk about sexual violence in conflict-ridden areas.
In a press conference after the meeting, Jolie said, “Violence against women and children, particularly sexual violence, is an increasing feature” of war around the world.
Jolie states it is a political tool used by opposing sides to frighten and intimidate enemies. However, it affects humanity as a whole including men and boys.
The movie star added she hopes that the “training, reporting, monitoring, and awareness” efforts made by organizations will decrease the amount of trauma faced by women and children in war areas.
Additionally, the Secretary-General, Jens Stoltenberg, co-wrote a piece titled, “Why NATO Must Defend Women’s Rights.” Angelina has been increasingly politically active over the last decade, she even did a lecture at the London School of Economics.
