Sometimes relationships don’t end in a bunch of drama or fire and brimstone. While some couples call it quits in spectacular fashion, complete with accusations and hurt feelings, others believe their relationship’s end deserves the same amount of respect as it’s beginning.
This seems to be the case with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone who dated for a few of years and still remain good friends.
It’s amazing to see two highly successful, attractive people in Hollywood still have nothing but good things to say about their former partner after a very amicable split.
Though they broke up in 2015, several media reports have speculated on whether or not they had actually gotten back together simply because of how continually complimentary they would both be toward one another in interviews. They were even still seen together a couple of times post-split.
Garfield kept to that same pattern at his latest movie premiere, Breathe. He was asked about Stone’s portrayal of tennis legend Billie Jean King in new film Battle of the Sexes. The person interviewing him made a comment on how they typically have films out at the same time and asked if they run into each other often during press junkets or have a friendly type of competition.
Garfield laughed and good-naturedly told the reporter that he has nothing but admiration for Stone and feels supportive of her always. He also called himself her “biggest fan”.
While the two of them haven’t publicly revisited their relationship, that possibility doesn’t seem out of the cards given how much obvious love the two still have for one another.
Stone and Garfield’s ability to still care and support one another despite no longer being in a relationship can teach us so much about how to be mature in the face of heartache.
Sometimes the end of a relationship doesn’t need to evoke bitterness, resentment, and vengeance. Sometimes relationships meet their natural end and without much negativity. Sometimes they reconvene years later.
It’s hard to say if that’s the case here but how they’ve handled such a public relationship and breakup is downright admirable.
