It couldn’t come at a worse time for Amy Schumer, as the star recently released her latest movie, I Feel Pretty, but came down with a serious kidney infection. Schumer posted a photograph of herself lying in a hospital bed and revealed in the caption that she has been suffering an infection inside her kidneys causing inflammation and pain.
Amy explained that while she had every intention to make it to London and Europe for the film, unfortunately, she couldn’t go as per her doctor’s orders. One source explained to us: “Amy is super bummed out about not being able to go to England for the release of her movie. She really likes it over there.”
Moreover, the comic joked that Europe and England have a lot of great people and food there – but mostly food. “I’m so grateful for all of the support the movie is getting,” the comedienne remarked.
According to a report from the Mayo Clinic, kidney infections typically begin in the urethra and travel up into the kidneys or the bladder and can cause serious complications.
Here’s what I’ve been up to this week. I was hospitalized for 5 days with a horrible kidney infection. I want to give a big thank you to the doctors, the bad ass nurses also my husband who’s name is, i want to say, Chris? and my sisters Kimby and mol who have been by my side the whole time. I wanted to share this with you because this is sexy as hell but mostly because I was meant to go to London for the opening of I Feel Pretty and my doctors have told me that’s a no go. I’m really disappointed selfishly to miss this trip because I love London and Europe in general and all the great people (food) there. But I need to put my health first. I am so grateful for all the support the movie is getting. I hope people check it out in England and everywhere else in the world. It’s sweet and fun and you will walk out feeling better. Which is something I hope to feel soon too.
Additionally, if the bacteria make it all the way to the bloodstream, the potential of a fatal illness exists. Tough luck for Amy, considering her latest film didn’t perform amazingly at the box office either.
The aforementioned film, I Feel Pretty, trailed behind other smash hits including Rampage. It also did worse than the sequel to the Super Troopers movie.
Either way, Schumer has developed a solid community of supporters who respect her tendency to say how she really feels: Case-in-point, the body positivity movement.
Amy recently stated that she didn’t want producers to mess with her image in the movie because she wanted it to be a genuine depiction of herself, flaws and all.
