Fans of 19 Kids & Counting and Counting On all know about cousin Amy Duggar. There was a time when the famous Duggar cousin was a popular guest on her family’s reality show, but a new report is claiming that her uncle Jim Bob and aunt Michelle have pushed her out of the spotlight and is forbidding her from talking about them publicly. Is the Duggar family forcing Amy to act like her famous cousins don’t exist?
As Radar Online reports, fans knew the 31-year-old as the most relatable and rebellious family member. Amy often ignored her aunt and uncle’s strict rules by wearing revealing clothing and kissing before she got married. But now, the Duggars are forcing her to delete any mention of the family on her social media accounts, and they are not allowing her to talk about them anymore.
“Amy went through her Instagram and had to delete all the pictures she had with her cousins,” revealed an insider.
Now, photos of Amy’s husband, Dillon King, are filling her social media pages, along with pics of friends, and fashionable clothes. The only Duggar family member remaining is her grandma, Mary Duggar (Jim Bob’s mom).
Back in 2016, Amy told fans on social media that Jim Bob and Michelle would not let their daughters hang out with her at her home in Fayetteville. She revealed it was a rule that if she wanted to spend time with her cousins, she had to go see them in Tontitown.
Her role in the Duggar media empire has declined over the years, but that is not an accident. Ever since her 2015 wedding, the strain between Amy and the Duggar clan has become worse. She decided to have alcohol and dancing at her reception, and this upset the family patriarch. So, Jim Bob, Michelle, and their offspring left immediately after the ceremony.
And recently, Amy spoke out against the family’s church on Twitter. She wrote that she doesn’t support Bill Gothard and the Institute of Life Principles in “any way, shape, or form,” and she finds his teachings questionable. She said that she is a Christian, but believes in God’s good grace and the freedom to be yourself. She concluded by writing that God gave us emotions and personalities and he wants people to live their best lives. And, her Bible teaches the opposite of Legalism.
In addition to having her delete all traces of the family from her social media, the Duggars also did not invite Amy to Josiah’s bachelor party this past weekend, and she is not expecting a wedding invitation.
Amy Duggar is not currently saying anything about the bitter divide. This was not her choice, but insiders say she still loves her famous family.
Season eight of Counting On will premiere in July on TLC.
