Fantasia Barrino is holding nothing back when it comes to making her opinion about the American Idol reboot known. The show’s winner started by saying that she definitely hopes it will do well, adding that ‘It had a long run, which is a blessing in itself.’ But there’s a ‘but!’
As you may remember, the 33-year-old is season three’s victor.
Back in May, Katy Perry was confirmed as one of the new judges on the highly anticipated American Idol show revival.
A couple of months later, Ryan Seacrest also announced that he is set to return as the singing competition’s host.
Finally, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie were also confirmed to be the other two judges on the panel last month.
Even though the cast is filled with really big names, Barrino believes it’s just not the same without the original judges, Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell.
‘The only way that I feel it can come back as strong as it used to be is if they bring back the original group,’ she stated.
Despite that fact that the trio is no longer returning to the TV show, Barrino still hopes the reboot will be successful.
Sadly, many fans have also been saying the same thing about the reboot needing the old judges to be at least half as successful as the original used to be.
In addition, Rihanna once stated that she’d join the panel only is she was really bored!
The new and improved (?) American Idol is set to premiere on ABC sometime next year. Are you going to tune in?
