During an American Idol audition, judge Katy Perry shocked everyone when she decided to trick a young contestant into kissing her on the lips! However, while many would be happy to have a peck from the singer, Benjamin Glaze, 20, told us that the gesture made him feel really ‘uncomfortable.’
Benjamin explained that he was saving his first kiss for someone special.
‘I was a tad bit uncomfortable. I wanted to save that for my first relationship. I wanted it to be special.’
‘Would I’ve done it if she said, ‘Would you kiss me?’ No, I would’ve said no. I know many guys would be like, ‘Heck yeah!’ But for me, I was raised in a conservative family and was uncomfortable immediately. I wanted the first kiss to be special.’
The young man, who was booted after his very first performance, confined in his close pals upon returning to Enid, Oklahoma.
‘They agreed with me that it did not really count. It was lip contact versus a romantic situation with someone you care about. That is what a real first kiss is,’ Benjamin stated.
As you can only imagine, Katy Perry’s actions were not received well by the show’s audience now in the wake of the Time’s Up and #metoo movements.
The issue of a double standard came into question when one user tweeted that ‘It was a forced sexual act. Imagine if this was from a male judge. Has @katyperry not taken anything from the #metoo movement?’
American Idol has been struggling as ever since Katy Perry joined the singing competition as part of the judge panel, its ratings have plummeted.
‘Katy Perry’s been worse than anyone ever could have imagined on American Idol. Her feedback and interactions with contestants are flat, and at times, very awkward. Along with constantly being late, this isn’t a very good indication of the show’s reboot success. It is a complete train wreck!’ one insider previously claimed.
