It is no secret that Amber Rose can be a little controversial sometimes but this time around, it looks like her words offended even more people! The woman attacked the #MeToo movement! Did she go too far or is she right?
The star stopped by The Raw Word with Michael Eric Dyson and Claudia Jordan, and that is where she said what she thinks about the entire movement.
As you may already know, the woman organizes the yearly SlutWalk event, but when it comes to #MeToo, she sees a lot of flaws in the movement, which apparently, is really ‘frustrating’ from her point of view.
‘It is kind of frustrating to me because all of a sudden, feminism became such a mainstream thing now that white — no shade — white, rich actresses start coming out saying, ‘Met too, me too.’ But, what happened to all of us?’ she wondered.
Amber was referring to the rest of the American society, including people of color, LGBTQ and many more.
She went on to add: ‘What happened to the strippers, the LGBTQ community, and the Black girls in college? Nobody wanted to talk about these people.’
Although Amber is right in a way, as no matter the circumstances, minorities of any kind seem to have their voices heard a lot less, she did not only disregard the immense good it has done but also the fact that there were influential people of color who came forward amid the #MeToo movement.
Lupita Nyong’o, Gabrielle Union, and Terry Crews are only a few examples.
The women used their influence to share their experiences with sexual harassment in Hollywood and bring awareness to the issues that surround the American workplace in terms of gender and power abuse.
