Amazon Studios confirmed today that Jeffrey Tambor wouldn’t be coming back to the set of “Transparent” when it begins its fifth season this year. The Emmy Award winner again denounced and vehemently denied the accusations against him.
A spokesperson said in a statement on Thursday the actor would not be returning. As a result of the charges, the studio started investigating the claims but decided to fire him regardless of their verdict.
In a statement, Tambor said he was “profoundly disappointed,” in the company’s handling of the circumstances. He added “Jill Soloway’s unfair characterization of (him) as someone” who would do such a thing was incredibly heartbreaking.
The actor claimed no one had ever spoken to him about any of the allegations made in the last three months. Jeffrey said the investigation was “flawed and biased” as a result of the “#MeToo” led atmosphere, one where companies are severing working relationships with men regardless if the claims have been proven.
Tambor acknowledged that he may have made someone feel uncomfortable and if that is the case, he deeply regrets it.
However, he will continue to proclaim his innocence. As you may know, the allegations were levied by his former assistant and actress who worked alongside him.
Jeffrey, 73, has won two Primetime Emmy Awards in his life. Ironically, both awards were given to him as a result of his performance on the set of Transparent.
The creator of the series, Soloway, said actions would be taken to ensure everyone’s safety while filming. In case you haven’t seen it, Transparent is a series which follows a transgender woman dealing with the community’s perception of her as well as the relationship with her grown children.
