Amanda Abbington, the star from Sherlock, was reportedly the victim of some thieves on Sunday evening, while she was attending the 68th annual Emmy Awards event in Los Angeles. According to her story, she let her clutch under her chair while she went on stage to join the rest of the cast for accepting the Outstanding Television Movie award for “Sherlock: The Abominable Bride”, produced by BBC.
However, when the actress, aged 42, who is playing Mary Watson in the show, returned to her seat, she saw that her purse was missing. The most precious items she had there were the cell phone and the driver’s license.
She posted on Twitter that she was happy to read all the tweets regarding the Emmy show and recounted the unpleasant event. She added that she hopes Karma will take care of “the bastard” who stole the purse and said she finds the situation “crappy”. Moreover, she underlined that she definitely didn’t lose the purse, since she waited until everybody left and searched all over for it, with no success.
Oddly, the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, where the event took place, was packed with heavy security, which is no surprise, given the huge number of celebrities that were gathered there. Under these circumstances, it is curious how did the thief manage to steal it, with all the guards and cameras that were placed there. It remains to be seen what the police will do about it and whether they will find the thief or not.
Even so, this is an unpleasant event that stains the reputation of the traditional annually show. Fans of the actress were sad and disappointed and expressed their compassion for this unpleasant incident everywhere on the web. Let’s just hope there were no other similar incidents at the show.
