Another TV beauty is taking on the role of makeup spokeswoman. In conjunction with her busy schedule filming the hit TV show How To Get Away With Murder, Aja Naomi King will now be representing L’Oreal Paris.
A rising star in the industry, she’s been heralded as one of the newest impressive young actors in a crop of plenty, which includes the likes of Yara Shahidi, Issa Rae, and Janelle Monae.
She joins other notable names as spokeswomen for the company such as Julianne Moore, Eva Longoria, Elle Fanning and Camila Cabello.
King is also the first black woman to be chosen to represent the makeup line in the latest crop of modern beauties, which is a necessary step in the stride toward representation.
It seems that this role is a perfect fit. The 32-year-old actress reveals that her mother taught her all about makeup and its benefits when she was younger. She even recalls having one of the L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Lipcolors as a go-to lipstick when she was growing up.
King reveals that makeup became much like armor when she was beginning to navigate the world when she was younger. “It provided me with a sense of protection and gave me the power and confidence to face the world in the way I wanted. To now represent L’Oreal Paris is incredibly overwhelming,” explains the actress.
Makeup was able to give King the ability to step into the world and know that she could do so unapologetically. Whatever boosts the confidence levels of a young woman, especially a black woman, growing up in this society is a gift and should be embraced.
Her first product campaign will be for the True Match Lumi Glow which is a new collection that features five different products that will leave the skin luminous and glowing.
An absolutely perfect choice for King who has flawless skin and a gorgeous complexion anyways, it will only be further magnified by the products. Be on the lookout for the Glotion Natural Glow Enhancers, Glow Nude Palette, Shimmerista Powder, Glow Boosting Drops and Bronze in Bronzer.
These products sound like the perfect antidote to dull skin in these cold winter months.
