Dog Days star Adam Pally revealed that he once asked none other than Jennifer Lopez out and was embarrassingly rejected! The actor stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert last night and opened up about this real story.
Pally told the host that about 15 years ago when he was attending The New School in New York City, he had no choice but to be at an Inside the Actors Studio taping just so that he could graduate.
According to the funnyman, who at the time was only 21 years old, he attended ‘half of one’ at the very end of the season where Jennifer Lopez was being interviewed by James Lipton.
During shooting, there is a section when the audience can ask the guest one question.
However, due to the fact that when it was his turn to talk into the mic which had been passed to him, the man recalls ‘blacking out.’
That is the reason why he decided to do a comedic bit instead.
He apparently called the multitalented celebrity guest by her famous ‘J.Lo.’ nickname but was quickly corrected by the woman – ‘Jennifer.’
Not only that but he even brought into discussion her, at the time, recent break up from Ben Affleck.
Pally told the host: ‘Right away I was like, ‘Oh God, this is bad, this is bad!’ But I powered through. And I was like I know that you’ve recently gone through a breakup with Casey Affleck—don’t know why I said that—to which then she quickly responded, ‘Ben.’’
The man powered through and confessed he felt like they had a connection and that he too had gone through a particularly painful split.
‘Then I went even further—so dumb—and I was like, ‘So if you’d like to maybe, after your taping of this, I rented a DVD of the movie Big Fish…’ She was very sweet, she was like, ‘Oh no, thank you very much.’ And it didn’t get a laugh, obviously, and I was like horribly embarrassed,’ Pally dished.
To be noted that all of his classmates were there to witness his humiliation.
