The Voice coach Adam Levine was considering taking a break from the show to spend time with his wife Behati Prinsloo and daughters Gio Grace and Dusty Rose. But instead, he has struck a new deal with producers that is going to keep him in his chair for at least one more season. Since Levine is sticking around a while longer, will his on-screen BFF Blake Shelton do the same?
Radar is reporting that Levine is not planning on a taking a hiatus right now, and the new deal between him and the producers has made everyone happy.
Levine’s desire to take some time off didn’t have anything to do with his current $13 million per season salary, but the new deal producers offered him did help him have a change of heart. They couldn’t afford to lose Levine – one of the show’s original coaches –, and he couldn’t turn down the money, especially since he loves being a part of the popular reality singing competition and he just spent $35.5 million on a new home for his growing family.
“The producers know that Adam is the reason that so many fans tune in every week and they are not going to risk losing viewers,” reveals an insider.
This season, The Voice – with current coaches Levine, Shelton, Alicia Keys, and Kelly Clarkson – has been crushing rival American Idol in the ratings. The chemistry between the coaches right now is great, and with the uptick in ratings, fans are obviously noticing.
As for Shelton, he has yet to reveal if he is sticking around for another season, but since his tour this year ended on St. Patrick’s Day and only consisted of 15 shows due to his schedule on The Voice, the country superstar will most likely return next season as well.
Plus, it would be incredibly difficult for fans to imagine the show without Levine and Shelton together. They have both been a part of it since day one, and their bromance is one of the things that make it so popular.
Shelton recently appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to promote his new album, and he shared a story with the audience about how he and Clarkson once made Levine cry.
He said that a few years ago Levine was playing a show at a casino near Shelton’s ranch in Oklahoma, and he called Clarkson to see if she wanted to go so they could make fun of him.
She did, and after quite a few drinks and a night of making fun of Levine, the three piled into a van with a designated driver and headed back towards Shelton’s place. But, during their trip, a cop pulled them over. However, the 41-year-old knew they hadn’t done anything wrong, so he and Clarkson decided to get a bit mouthy with the police officer.
Since Levine is from Los Angeles, a place where you don’t talk back to the cops, he got uncomfortable quickly and was convinced the three were going to jail. But, Shelton knew that in Oklahoma, if you are right, you can argue your point with the police and things would be ok.
The incident ended with Levine in tears, while Shelton and Clarkson had a good laugh. Obviously, no one ended up behind bars.
