Abby Lee Miller is having a rough time lately. First, she went to prison, now she has cancer? According to a report from E! News, Abby underwent spinal surgery for what they thought was an infection of her spine, but it turned out to be something much worse.
Following a thorough search, doctors discovered Abby actually is in the preliminary stages of Burkitt Lymphoma, a form of cancer that is classified in the same family as non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Samer Saah, a representative for Miller’s doctor, Dr. Hooman Melamed, confirmed to multiple publications that Abby actually has Burkitt Lymphoma rather than a bacterial infection of the spine.
Fortunately for the reality star and former host of Dance Moms, her doctor revealed there is a lot of treatment available for that type of cancer.
Moreover, it hasn’t spread to potentially fatal areas either, so for now, Abby has managed to stay in the clear. Regarding her spinal cord, the representative said she’s slowly getting better, slowly but surely.
Unfortunately, though, Abby will have to get another spinal cord surgery sometime in the coming months. As it was previously reported, the last year for Abby hasn’t been the greatest, as she spent eight and a half months in federal prison before being transferred to a half-way house in Long Beach, California.
Fans of the former host will remember that she went to jail for attempting to evade taxes.
The reality star refused to tell the United States government that she had a ton of money in Australian currency, among other transgressions for which she was caught. When talking about her prison sentence back in February of this year, Miller said she was “surviving because the fire inside (her) burns brighter than the fire around (her).”
